'God in the details'
I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and so much to be thankful for. Steve's birthday was Thanksgiving day and by the grace of God we got to celebrate it. We had 17 family members seated at the table to share Thanksgiving dinner together AND Steve got the eat anything he wanted too. He was dismissed from the maxillofacial surgeon this past Tues. (after 6 weeks of soft food) with great results. Also, this past Tues. night at our Thanksgiving Agape Feast, we had the privilege of giving a short testimony on 'God in the details' in our lives. Several weeks ago we gave our testimony to a sunday school class that we use to attend before we changed churches. What a blessing it is to share what God has done and what God can do in each of our lives. Told you we had a lot to be thankful for : )
Steve goes to the neurologist tomorrow and he'll have a nerve study done on his left leg. He still has a lot of pain from the hip to the foot. He will also have an EEG done after the nerve study. I'll fill you in on the results as soon as I know them.
"Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you." Psalm 63: 3-5

'God in the details'
Yea! Steve got the archwires off today. What a relief. Next week he goes back for his (hopefully) last appointment with Dr. Parker, the maxilofacial surgeon. At that time he also gets to eat real food.
Well another appointment down and a few more left to go. Overall Steve is doing great...we sometimes get a little bummed out but then remind ourselves of his progress thus far.
After all ... Steve's initial goal was to walk by Thanksgiving and we thought that was really pushing it. Who knew? ( :
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and count your blessings. I know that we will.
"Most of all let love guide your life, for then the whole church will stay together in perfect harmony." Colossians 3:1

'God in the details'
Well, yesterday we did make it to the Neurologist and to the Orthopaedist. The Neurologist was very encouraging. He feels that Steve's 'cognitive issues' are due to post tramatic stress but, just for kicks and grins, he has set up an appointment for an EEG. Steve will also see a Neuro-psychologist to do some memory tests just to confirm (or deny) Dr. Miller's assessment. Dr. Miller will also do a nerve level test on Steve's left leg and foot. Now, for the orthopaedist... Dr. Freeman was extremely pleased with Steve's progress. Other than the nerve pain everything else was better than he expected.
Steve is still having a fair amount of pain and he has very little stamina. All of this is normal and understandable, but prayers for less pain and more stamina would be greatly appreciated.
Tues. the 17th Steve gets the archwires/braces off. This metal laces between the teeth at the gumline, therefore they will put him in 'la la land' for a few minutes. After this procedure he will have one more week of soft food and then anything with 4 legs had better watch out!
"The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him." Ps. 37: 39-40

'God in the details'
OK...we are going to try this Neurology thing again. Friday the 13th Steve has an appointment to see his Orthopaedist and the Neurologist. Bones and Brain all the same day.
Steve continues to push hard in PT and he continues to hurt. He is fully aware of the saying, "no pain, no gain." Now, after more than 4 months of pain and Steve's progress not as dramatic as in the beginning, we sometimes get discouraged, however we continue to be grateful that he is here and that he is still ahead of schedule in his recovery. God is good !
"One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard; that you, O God are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving." Psalm 62: 11-12
